Geckark was a baby kelpie when wizard Carly of the Surf got him for a birthday gift. He would be the first animal that she would possess that would help her in her life as a pirate and then as a red hat Empress of The Ritz.

A year later he had grown into a beautiful sea green horse like creature. Charming people into the ocean by singing to them or asking if they would like to see the gems and gold he has in his lair in the kelp forests. As his appetite grew his new found taste for humans grew too.

At two years old he developed a short term ability to shapeshift into a man. The seaweed around him turned into long flowing brown hair. His yellow eyes were hidden by his long black eye lashes. Men found his laugh contagious and like tavern fools followed him into the sea. Women were not affected by his looks or charms and that was okay with Geckark because there was more meat on a man.

Empress Carly understood his needs and wants and used them to her advantage. If someone double crossed her she would call for her pet and then laugh as she walked away.

When Gekark was three he developed the ability to telepath with Carly. She no longer needed to call for him. She would just close her eyes and with her thoughts tell him what she needed. In return Gekark would leave her little gifts on her window like a gold coin or other treasures he found in the ocean.
