Hardwin Exterminator of the Valley

Hardwin Exterminator of the Valley loved the Dark Ronin. 

He was always so impressed by the amazing skills they displayed with their weapons, the wit they used in their insults and their cutting edge stealth techniques that combined both magic and advanced technology. He was most impressed however with their armour, it was just so comfortable to wear.

Sometimes however he would come across Dark Ronin who were not so impressive, those who were just plain rude when he met them. For those ones, where they really managed to get under his skin with their comments, he respected their talent by letting them go past, instead of just chopping off their heads with his massive sword. In some particular cases he even pointed them in exactly the right direction, for they were always there looking for the Ascension Key caves. 

He would then make his way to the top of the valley to watch them try and finish the gruelling journey. The manticore, that the valley was named after, always seemed to know which ones were deserving of the special treatment, sometimes even taking a couple of days to eat them.

He always felt perhaps a bit more time reading books on manticores and a bit less time practicing their use of poison or traps might help their survival chances but so far the Dark Ronin just kept coming. The true definition of insanity he thought, to try the same thing each time and expect a different result.

After every failed attempt he would head back down to the valley floor and talk to the rather lonely manticore while collecting any clothing that was still clean from the body of the Dark Robin. 

It was always so hard to get clean clothes made with the finest fabric, in such a dusty and sandy valley, so he always loved it when his trusty wild eagle companion told him another visitor was on their way.
