Nightsky wolves-Three hundred and twenty three full moons ago the wind blew the leaves up into the air as blue lights shined down in the Emerald Forest.

Wizard Zane was sitting by the campfire watching the sparks float upwards when he heard the crackle of a step. In front of him stood Artan, a night wolf who was creepy towards him with a growl. Out of instinct the wizard glanced behind and saw the wolf’s partner Cele was approaching while baring her teeth.

Zane looked to the moon and held up his left hand and called, “Hear my cries moon that shines, enhance my power from your beams of light.”

Down from the sky a ray of light came forth directly to Zane’s palm. He slowly spun around while making a circle of light around all three of them. A flick of his hand and a scream forced the wolves into the air.

Their bodies landed with a thump. After a moment they both crawled back to their dens.

The next morning when Artan and Cele woke they stared at each other. Their fur had turned a dark blue and their eyes were now a bright green.

Cele tried to whimper to her mate and out of her mouth came an eerie deep moan. Artan tried to respond and the same noise emerged. The alpha crawled closer to his partner and they both slept the rest of the day while their pack tended to them.

Today there are only three packs of Nightsky wolves in the Emerald Forest, all descendants of Artan and Cele. One lives on the east side, one on the west, and one runs north and south along the Chunky River.
